Brief: Refine web copy/content & distill CV into a professional bio/About.
Sarah McDowell approached me to assist with copy and content for her new consultancy’s website. Though she was already working with a web designer on the site’s structure and functionality, Sarah conceded that she also needed some professional help to review and refine her messaging and tone of voice.
Because her work in youth suicide prevention is highly sensitive and complex in nature, Sarah’s web copy needed to embody and reflect her personal brand—professional, trustworthy, relatable—while elevating her new business in the same way.
She wanted particular sections, like her Service intros, tailored to fit her preferred content blocks (design elements). She also needed her extensive professional and academic background distilled into an easy-to-read ‘About’ section, which we were later able to adapt for her LinkedIn profile, too.
Sarah was a fabulous, easy-going client and very open to all my recommendations, including a couple of suggestions for some minor tweaks to the site’s flow. And after a couple of rounds of careful revisions, we were done!
What Sarah said:
Meeting Annie was like a breath of fresh air. She has an innate ability to draw out what matters and turn that into words that connect. She helped me find the right balance between professionalism and warmth, and the end result feels authentic and true to what my work stands for.
Thank you Annie for letting me word dump on you and making sense of it all. I’m so glad I found you, and would absolutely use you again!
